A good build starts with a good palette. Builder's Palette adds 44 building blocks arranged as four complete material schemes, each one shaded to sit together: walls, a base course, corners, glazing, floor and a full roof set with stairs and slabs. Pick a scheme, follow its logic, and the style holds together on its own.
Sunstone (Mediterranean)
- Limestone Bricks: 2 sandstone + 2 diorite in a checker, makes 4. In the stonecutter they turn into Polished Limestone, Carved Limestone and Fluted Limestone Pillar (and back again).
- Limestone Brick Stairs and Slab, Polished Limestone Slab.
- Whitewashed Plaster: 2 sand, 1 clay ball and 1 bone meal, shapeless, makes 2.
- Terracotta Roof Tiles with Stairs and Slab: 4 orange terracotta make 4 (or 1 for 1 in the stonecutter).
- Azulejo Tile: white terracotta + lapis lazuli. Four of them form one medallion.
- Terracotta Floor Tile: 4 terracotta make 4, or stonecutter.
Kyoto (Japanese)
- Charred Timber: 4 dark oak planks + 1 charcoal, makes 4. Its Slab is 3 in a row.
- Shikkui Plaster Wall: Charred Timber + Whitewashed Plaster, makes 2. The dark frame and rail line up from block to block.
- Kawara Roof Tiles with Stairs and Slab: 4 gray terracotta make 4.
- Vermilion Pillar: stripped spruce log + red dye.
- Shoji Screen: sticks in the four corners, paper in a plus shape, makes 4. Translucent, lets light through.
- River Stone Paving and its Slab: 2 cobblestone + 2 gravel, makes 4.
Foundry (Industrial)
- Factory Bricks with Stairs and Slab: 2 brick blocks + 1 coal, makes 2 (or brick block in the stonecutter).
- Poured Concrete with Stairs and Slab: sand and gravel in a checker, makes 4 (or smooth stone in the stonecutter).
- Riveted Steel Plate: iron ingots on the sides, nuggets in the corners, makes 4. Steel I-Beam: an I of 7 iron ingots, makes 4. They convert into each other in the stonecutter.
- Steel Grating: 4 iron bars, makes 4. See-through catwalks and vents.
- Wired Glass: 8 glass around 1 iron bars, makes 8.
- Hazard Stripe Block: 2 Poured Concrete + yellow dye + black dye, makes 2.
Hearth (Old Town)
- Timber Frame in three cuts: Post (stick, plaster, stick in a column), Cross (sticks in the four corners) and Brace (sticks on one diagonal). Each takes 1 Whitewashed Plaster and makes 1.
- Fieldstone with Stairs and Slab: cobblestone, andesite, diorite and granite, makes 4.
- Slate Roof Tiles with Stairs and Slab: 4 cobbled deepslate make 4.
- Leaded Glass: 5 glass in an X with 4 iron nuggets, makes 5.
Stairs and slabs: every stair uses the usual 6-block staircase recipe for 4, every slab 3 in a row for 6, and the stone ones also come from the stonecutter (1 block = 1 stair or 2 slabs). Stairs face the way you place them and form inner and outer corners with their neighbours. Slabs go on the top or bottom half depending on where you click.
Build tips
- Work in three layers: a heavy base course (bricks, fieldstone, charred timber), a light wall (plaster, timber frame), then a dark roof. Light walls between a dark base and a dark roof always read well.
- Run roofs one block past the walls. Stairs on the eaves with a slab on the ridge give a clean hip roof.
- Mark corners with a pillar or I-beam. Vertical lines at the corners make a box look like a building.
- Use one accent per facade: a band of Azulejo under the eaves, a row of Hazard Stripes at the base, a single Vermilion Pillar by the door.
- The schemes mix: Fieldstone under Whitewashed Plaster, or Slate Roof over Factory Bricks.
