A field guide for the wandering kind. Pack light, walk slowly, look down now and then. Everything below grows by itself in new chunks, so the trail starts where your map ends.
Birch woods, oak woods and flower forests
- Autumn Maples: orange crowns, some small and round, some tall and grand. Chop a Maple Log into 4 Maple Planks. Planks make sticks, chests and crafting tables, and logs smelt into charcoal.
- Maple Leaves sometimes drop a Maple Sapling, a few sticks, or, on a generous day, an apple.
- Fallen Logs: old oak and birch trunks resting in the grass, with moss on top and one brown mushroom on guard duty.
Plains and meadows
- Sunbell patches: little yellow bells that ring only for bees. One Sunbell crafts into yellow dye.
- A lone maple now and then, standing in a field as if it took a wrong turn.
- Mossy Wayshrines: small broken ruins of mossy and cracked stone bricks with a Lichen Stone at the heart. Rare. Nobody remembers who built them. Probably someone tidy.
Hills, taiga, meadows and mountains
- Mossy Boulders half sunk in the ground, made of Lichen Stone and mossy cobblestone. Smelt Lichen Stone into stone, or put 4 in a square for 4 mossy cobblestone.
Dark forests and swamps
- Giant Glowcaps: huge teal mushrooms that keep the gloom company. The Glowcap Cap shines at light level 13 and the Glowcap Stem has a soft glow of its own. Breaking a cap may drop a Glowcap Sprout.
- Glowcap Sprouts grow in small clusters on the forest floor and glow like night lights. 4 sprouts in a square make a Glowcap Cap.
Snowy plains, snowy taiga and slopes
- Frost Lily: pale blue lilies that push up through the snow with a faint shimmer. One crafts into light blue dye.
Beaches
- Sea Thrift: pink pom-pom flowers that like salty air. One crafts into pink dye.
Below your boots, anywhere in the overworld (height 8 to 56)
- Rose Quartz Geodes: a shell of smooth basalt and calcite around a pink heart. Rose Quartz Clusters drop 2 to 4 Rose Quartz Shards, and 4 shards make a softly glowing Rose Quartz Block.
Growing your own
- Plant a Maple Sapling on grass or dirt and, in time, it becomes a maple. Plant a Glowcap Sprout and, with patience and open sky above, it becomes a giant glowcap.
- Bone meal hurries both along. Give them room: trees are shy in tight spaces.
Explorer's notes
- Every block is also in the creative menu (Nature, plus planks, Lichen Stone and Rose Quartz Block under Construction).
- Land you already explored stays exactly as it was. New wonders wait past the edge of the map.
