新Strata Field Notes: Six New Ores and Their Uses

Field journal, Strata survey. Six minerals that were not in my old notebooks. Logged below in the order I met them, from the top of the column down to the End. Every sample was mined, smelted and tested before I wrote it down.

Sample 1: Ochrite. Found at Y 32 to 112 in stone, granite, diorite and andesite. Common: about a dozen small veins per chunk, up to 9 blocks each. Any pickaxe takes it. Drops 1 to 2 Raw Ochrite, which smelts (furnace or blast furnace) into an Ochrite Ingot.
Use: a soft, quick metal. Ochrite Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel and Sword are crafted in the usual tool shapes from ingots and sticks. Iron-level harvest, a little faster than iron, 190 uses. Repair with Ochrite or iron ingots.

Sample 2: Verdigine. Y 4 to 60 in the same stone family, densest around Y 32. Uncommon. Needs a stone pickaxe or better. Drops one Verdigine gem directly, no smelting needed.
Use: the Prospector's Compass. Verdigine in the centre, Ochrite Ingots above, below, left and right. Use it and it listens for ore within 20 blocks: the action bar names the nearest match, the distance, the direction ("ahead, to the left") and how far up or down, and a short trail of sparks points the way. Sneak and use to retune it: any Strata ore, one of the six, or diamond.

Sample 3: Lumenite. Y -48 to 0, inside deepslate and tuff. The ore gives off a faint light of its own, so watch for a dim glow on cave walls. Stone pickaxe or better. Drops 1 to 2 Lumenite Crystals.
Use: the Lumenite Lantern, full brightness (15). One crystal in the centre, Ochrite Ingots above, below, left and right: 2 lanterns. Nine crystals make a Block of Lumenite, which also glows at full strength.

Sample 4: Cobaltine. Deep: Y -64 to -24 in deepslate and tuff. Small veins of up to 4 blocks, about two per chunk. Iron pickaxe or better. Drops Raw Cobaltine. It ignores an ordinary furnace: only a blast furnace turns it into a Cobaltine Ingot.
Use: the Cobaltine Pickaxe. Three Cobaltine Ingots on top, a Cindrite Ingot in the middle, a stick below. Diamond-level harvest, 1400 uses. Its trait: break one ore block and the connected blocks of the same ore come out with it (up to 24 more, one durability each). Works on the normal ores too. Sneak to mine a single block.

Sample 5: Cindrite. The Nether, Y 8 to 118, in netherrack, basalt and blackstone. Common, with a faint glow. Any pickaxe. Drops 1 to 2 Raw Cindrite, which burns as furnace fuel (40 seconds) or smelts into a Cindrite Ingot. Both survive fire and lava.
Use: the Cindrite Blade: two ingots above a blaze rod. 7 damage, 900 uses, and every hit sets the target alight for 4 seconds. The ingot is also the binding of the Cobaltine Pickaxe, so a Nether trip is part of the deep-mining kit.

Sample 6: Voidspar. The End, inside end stone between Y 10 and 80, small veins. Iron pickaxe or better. Drops one Voidspar Shard.
Use: the Voidspar Anchor: four shards around an ender pearl. Sneak and use to set the anchor where you stand, then use it later to be pulled back there (same dimension only). 32 pulls, 5 seconds to settle between them.

Storage. Nine ingots or gems of any of the six make its block, and the block crafts back into nine. Blocks of Cindrite glow softly, Blocks of Lumenite glow fully.

Margin notes. All six ores need a pickaxe; with too low a tier they break but drop nothing. Fortune and Silk Touch do not change their drops. New veins only appear in chunks generated after the add-on is turned on, so walk to fresh ground. Everything is also in the creative inventory.
